I am a researcher, writer, and educator, based between Kenya and the US.
RESEARCHER: My research interests encompass the politics of gender in contemporary Africa, women’s political representation, development practice, law, and governance. I am currently a PhD Candidate in Anthropology at Emory University. My dissertation research examines how Kenya’s gender quotas for political representation have shaped the political system and the experiences of women who enter political office through gender quota policies.
WRITER: I enjoy writing fiction. I write about faith, fracture, friction, fracture, and fragility. Browse list of all my academic, fiction, and non-fiction writing under Portfolio.
EDUCATOR: I’ve benefited greatly from teachers and mentors who have invested in me. I love to pass on the knowledge I have gained to other students. I run a program known as Higher Ed Prep based in Kenya that helps students seeking international graduate education prepare competitive scholarship applications. Follow our work here.
